If your child has crowded teeth, deep bite, thumb and finger sucking habits, or skeletal problems such as reduced or over-growth of upper and/or lower jaw/s, treatment must be rendered as early as possible to correct these issues while growth is still present. Time is the essence of the matter in creating long lasting corrections to eliminate less desirable alternatives which patient is unfortunately stocked with upon cessation of growth. These alternatives include extractions of permanent teeth to create spaces, surgery, and lengthy orthodontic treatments . Waiting for all adult teeth to erupt, and then get an orthodontic consultation is definitely not ideal and highly discouraged. Most orthodontic problems could be treated and prevented during Phase I or the interceptive treatment.
