With all the advancements in dental technology, invisible braces are clearly one of the favorites. With this newer orthodontic treatment, people can now straighten their teeth and improve their smiles without the use of metal braces. Avoiding or putting off straightening your teeth is something every dentist has seen because people do not want to wear braces. Committing to a lengthy treatment that will require diet restrictions, extra care, and living with a mouth full of metal is challenging.
Crooked or misaligned teeth should be corrected for many reasons. Straighter teeth will definitely improve your smile, giving your more confidence, but it is also important for oral health reasons. Teeth that are straight are easier to clean, which is necessary to avoid gum disease and tooth decay.
Greenspring, MD orthodontist Dr. Mohammad Izadi, can straighten your teeth and improve your dental health with Invisalign® clear aligners. Invisalign provides a discreet, convenient option for teens and adults with mild to moderate orthodontic concerns. We also provide additional orthodontic services to patients throughout Baltimore and Baltimore County. Dr. Izadi can address the following dental concerns with this revolutionary treatment:
- Crooked teeth

- Overbite
- Orthodontic relapse
- Spaces or gaps between teeth
- Narrow tooth arches
- Crossbite
The Benefits of Invisalign
The Invisalign system offers patients many advantages over traditional metal braces. The most noticeable advantage is that they are clear and very discreet. The treatment is less conspicuous, and many people may not even notice you are wearing them.
Because the aligners are removable, you are able to continue your normal daily oral hygiene routine. This allows you to remove them for brief periods for special events. You can also eat a normal, healthy diet. Wearing braces limits the kind of food you can eat, and food will easily get stuck in them, causing embarrassing situations.
People who have braces often complain about the protruding bits of metal being uncomfortable. This also causes safety issues while playing sports. If you get hit in the mouth with a ball, you risk the chance of being cut on the inside of your mouth.
Without the use of the permanently attached brackets, there are no risks of tooth enamel staining.
In most cases, your treatment time could be up to 50% faster than other clear aligner brands thanks to the latest advances in the Invisalign system and the material used called SmartTrack®.
How Does Invisalign Work?
The first step in the process involves a consultation with Dr. Izadi. Here he can determine if this clear aligner system is able to correct your dental concern. Next, he will create 3-D images of your teeth using digital scanning technology. With these sophisticated images, he will be able to map out a custom treatment for you that will gently move your teeth into alignment. He will also be able to show you an image of what your new smile will look like after your treatment is complete. This treatment plan is sent to the Invisalign lab, where the aligners will be created.
Invisalign invisible braces are made of a material called SmartTrack®, a clear plastic that is ultra-thin and very durable. This material is transparent and designed to fit snugly against the teeth, making them virtually invisible to others. The soft plastic material and the aligner’s low profile help to reduce irritation of the lips, tongue, and gums. Once your aligners are ready, you will return to our Greenspring, MD, area orthodontist office to get your first set.
You should wear them for at least 22 hours a day. The length of your treatment and the number of aligners you will need depends on the severity of your dental concerns and your cosmetic goals. Most patients will complete treatment in less than 12 months.
