Reduce your orthodontic treatment time by up to 50%.

Propel for Orthodontics in Timonium Maryland

Propel Orthodontics is a simple procedure designed to reduce orthodontic treatment times by up to 50%. Propel works by creating manual osteoperforations or “dental dimples” through the gum line. The handheld device promotes faster movement in the jaw so you can enjoy your beautiful, straighter smile in less time.

Propel is used in combination with other orthodontic treatments to amplify lasting results. Patients who choose Invisalign or Invisalign teen may be ideal candidates for Propel accelerated orthodontics. Patients receiving self-ligating and traditional or ceramic braces or other styles of braces may also be successful candidates for Propel.

Propel Orthodontics logoDo I Qualify for Propel?

Dr. Izadi uses the Propel device to create microscopic perforations in the gums and jaw. These osteoperforations stimulate the body’s natural healing response, accelerating the repositioning of the jaw.

Dr. Izadi will begin by evaluating the treatment area to determine the ideal placement of the dental dimples.

The patient’s mouth will then be thoroughly cleaned. We will topically numb your mouth for your comfort. Once the patient is ready, the procedure begins.

In just a few minutes, the dimples can be made, and the patient is ready to return to their daily schedule. There is no recovery time!

One or two Propel treatments are typically enough to see the best results. However, we can do more to help with complex tooth movements.

Propel Orthodontics FAQs

Does Propel Orthodontic treatment hurt?

You may feel some discomfort after your mouth has recovered from anesthesia. Treatment with Propel Orthodontics does not cause pain. Your discomfort and sensitivity are temporary and will go away in a day. DO NOT take anti-inflammatory medication, as this can hinder the healing process.

Can you use Propel orthodontics with any orthodontic treatment?

Yes. Propel Orthodontics can be used alongside any orthodontics treatment to reduce downtime and speed up the process. Almost all orthodontics patients qualify for this service.

What can’t I eat after Propel orthodontic treatment?

Your dentist will recommend that you avoid eating spicy and acidic foods. Foods like peppers, lemons, and spicy dishes can cause a burning sensation and be very unpleasant. They can also damage your soft tissue and slow down healing.

How long does Propel Orthodontics take to change?

It can take up to six hours for the device to completely charge. A green light on the case indicates that the connection has been made successfully. The lithium-ion polymer battery pack that powers the device is rechargeable. Charging will be needed about once a week.

How does Propel work with Invisalign?

Using PROPEL®, we use a small device to increase blood flow in the bone around your teeth in order to speed up your Invisalign treatment. As a result, both your jawbone activity and the movement of your teeth are increased.

If you are interested in accelerating your orthodontic treatment, ask Dr. Izadi about Propel. During your consultation, he will see if Propel can fast-track your treatment to a new smile.
